Religious School and Hebrew High School Registration Info

 

Grades K-6

Tuesday Religious School (4:00-6:15 pm)
plus Option 1 or 2.

This year, in addition to the Tuesday program, all students will attend a second day of Religious School, and we now offer two options.

Option 1: Tosefet (New!)

Thursday (4:00-6:00pm)—Grade 3-6

Tosefet is not Advanced Placement (AP) religious school. It is a more enriching religious school experience. Tosefet Thursday offers an enhanced program including:

• Deeper Hebrew instruction, including Modern, conversational Hebrew, Hebrew songs and games, as well as working toward a higher level of prayer proficiency.
• An introduction and strengthening of trope skills (Torah and haftarah chanting).
• Opportunities to take leadership roles in our monthly Panim Family Shabbat Service as well as regular Shabbat services.
• Judaic content taught by David Woolfe and our Temple Beth-El clergy.

Option 2: Merkaz Ivrit

Monday or Thursday 4:00-5:00pm—Grade K-3
Monday or Thursday 5:00-6:00pm—Grade 4-6

Merkaz Ivrit continues to offer a meaningful Religious School learning experience and intense preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Merkaz Ivrit class groupings are based on registration, skill level, grade level and learning style.

Makom-TBE Special-Needs Program

Monday (4:00-6:00)
As Temple Beth-El is committed to creating an inclusive community, Makom is a program for students who have special needs or require accommodations beyond a typical classroom setting. We welcome you to contact us for more information.

 

Hebrew High Students

7th Grade

Tuesday (6:15-8:30) includes pizza dinner

Instructors: David Woolfe and Morah Orit

The 7th Grade will incorporate a 10-10-10 structure. The first ten sessions of the year will be devoted to the Jewish Teen Funders Network philanthropy curriculum. The second ten sessions of the year will be focused on devising individual philanthropic/mitzvah projects and the final ten sessions will be a Biblical exploration of the mitzvah of giving – of oneself, of one’s wealth, and of one’s time.

Hebrew and prayer proficiency will continue to be a significant part of the 7th grade year.
The 7th grade will also be part of the High School Rosh Chodesh programming.

Grades 8th-12th have class 7:00-8:30

 

8th & 9th Grade

Rabbi Muhlbaum is delighted to be teaching 8th and 9th grade again this year. In her class, students will use a wide range of learning modalities, like debate, mixed media arts, persuasive speaking, and creative writing. They’ll explore different issues and build their Jewish literacy. With Rabbi Muhlbaum, they’ll strengthen their bonds with each other and the Jewish people.

 

10th Grade – Confirmation

Rabbi Tara creates the opportunity for our Confirmation class to explore how Jewish themes and identity enriches this pivotal year in their lives. The year culminates in a beautiful Confirmation Service at Shavuot.

 

11th Grade

Our 11th graders will be engaged in the Jewish Teen Funders Network philanthropy curriculum. In addition to exploring what philanthropy means and, specifically, what Jewish philanthropy means we will focus on the skill of fundraising to support philanthropic efforts. (Part of the curriculum requires our students to explore and research organizations to which they will give a substantial charitable gift.)

 

12th Grade

Our Graduating seniors will have the opportunity to truly “wrestle” with the questions and content that Judaism presents. Rabbi Meir will guide these explorations with our students and looks forward to greeting them on our bimah as graduates!

Online Chaverweb Religious School Registration

Step by Step

To Register please follow these steps:

1. Log into your Chaverweb account. Click here
2. If you have forgotten your password, please click “forgot password” and enter your email address. You will then receive a temporary password to reset your account.
3. If this is your first time signing onto Chaverweb, please fill out the information required for each family member (age, birthdate, etc.).
4. Click on “School Registration.”
5. Choose one of the children you are registering from the drop down menu.
6. Select his/her grade as of September 2019.
7. Answer all questions for your child.
8. Select all the requirements for that grade. Choose your payment method, either credit card or bill me for each. (Depending on grade, there may be Panim, security fees, refreshments, etc.)
9. Choose “Register for More” to register additional children.
10. Choose “Submit” when you are done with all of your students.
11. You will get a confirmation email.
