This is where it all begins! We are a group consisting of families with children from birth through fifth grade. Our purpose is to sponsor events that will foster a social, religious, and spiritual connection to the Temple Beth-El community. We are guided by the Jewish principles of tzedakah, tikkun olam (repairing the world) and g’milut hasadim (acts of loving kindness). We strive to provide age-appropriate activities for both kids and parents, promoting a lifetime of Jewish involvement.
Come join us on our fun family journey!
We hold such events such as an annual back to school picnic for the whole family, adults-only evening get togethers, and family outings including bowling. Watch the Bulletin for announcements of Familyhood events.
Under the auspices of Familyhood, a Family Shabbat is held, usually on the first Friday of each month. Family Shabbat starts at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner. The service, filled with Shabbat fun, begins at 7:00 p.m. as everyone welcomes Shabbat with great music and interactive stories. At the end of each service, the rabbi offers a blessing to the children with a birthday in that month. At the conclusion of the service, there is a dessert provided during a brief Oneg Shabbat.
Tot Shabbat is another draw for the Familyhood congregants. This program is ideal for toddlers and nursery-age children and their parents and grandparents. Programs begin at 10:30 a.m. You’re invited to come each month as we celebrate Shabbat with songs and stories. Afterward, we enjoy bagels, fruit and other snacks as we play, get to know each other and create unique works of art. Tot Shabbat lasts about one hour.
