Beginning in 2012, in keeping with its tikkun olam efforts, Beth-El’s Brotherhood began providing Easter Sunday dinner and a July 4th barbeque for the patrons of the St. Aloysius R.C. Church Food Pantry in Great Neck. The Food Pantry, run by the church’s Outreach Program and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, is the only food pantry in Great Neck. It provides direct assistance to people in need in our community.
That program has grown into one where numerous arms and organizations within the temple, including Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Club Chai, and our Religious School and High School, as well as individual temple members, have made a commitment to support the Food Pantry on an ongoing basis. Throughout the year, the members of Temple Beth-El provide the Food Pantry with food and other supplies. The Food Pantry is the beneficiary of the temple’s High Holy Days Food Drive.
If you would like to participate in our efforts, please contact former Brotherhood President Stuart Lubert or former Brotherhood President Steven Koteen.
